INTRODUCING ME: BIBLIOTHERAPY + PEYTON
A brief introduction to the Bibliotherapy brand, my relationship with reading, & what you can expect from this blog.

Welcome to Bibliotherapy! My name is Peyton, and my life has revolved around books for as long as I can remember. Before I cared about shopping, I'd spend the days in the library or the bookstore. For hours at a time, I would sit there reading, comfortable in silence and just enjoying the feeling of being surrounded by something I loved: literature. During undergraduate and graduate school, my relationship with reading was put on the backburner, replaced by an intense focus on my studies; since graduating, I have worked on fostering my connection with literature and building my love to what it once was.
Without bookstagram, I am not sure where I would be in terms of that goal. I can honestly say that bookstagram (and the community that I have found there) saved that bond. So why not build upon that? My purpose in creating this blog is to create an inclusive space where I am not only in a position to spread the love of reading, but to amplify the voices of BIPOC authors, diversify bookshelves, and introduce powerful works of art into the world.
Think of this site as an ongoing conversation between us where we can discuss reading, literature, and even dessert (every now and then, because why not?)! I want this to be a warm, welcoming environment, similar to what I hope I have created on Instagram (@_bibliotherapy).
“This blog should be about more than my own opinion. This blog should be a place where intelligent discussions about literature are held, minds are stimulated, and bookshelves are expanded..."
While I will be posting lots of engaging content, I want Bibliotherapy to be about more than me. This blog should be about more than my own opinion. This blog should be a place where intelligent discussions about literature are held, minds are stimulated, and bookshelves are expanded. For now, though, allow me to introduce myself -- stream-of-consciousness style..
#peytoncore is...
Minding my business. Playing the new MCR song on repeat. Drinking black tea, hot with way too much honey or iced with mango. Dark/light/chaotic academia. Dessert before everything. Luxury fashion all day. Big brown eyes. Leather jackets. Ginger snaps. Fiction fiction fiction. Music, period. Black alternative energy. Dark and dry humor. Running while laughing. Being the world's greatest hype man. Autumn/Winter. Anxiety. Knowing actor's names. The musical stylings of Steven Anita Smith. Being an absolute menace. Tough exterior/warm heart. Fantasy and sci-fi genres. Doing the electric slide and the macarena to any song. Chaotic neutral energy. The color green. Knowing every single tv show theme song known to man. Reapplying sunscreen. Black girl old money vibes. Having intelligent conversation over a cookie skillet at Chili's (and no, I will not share). Gift giving. Doing the absolute most. Gender neutral scents.
That's just a peek into my life! Comment below with what your #namecore would be so we can see how similar we are, and let me know what questions you may have!
This is Bibliotherapy. Are you ready to get started?
