I have the biggest crush on New York. Maybe it’s just because I don’t have to live there, but there’s nothing that phases me about it. I love the crowds and the eccentric people and the smell and the subway rats. The city has character. Maybe I’ve seen a few too many episodes of Sex and the City, but there’s a certain romance to New York. Needless to say, I’m always down for a even the quickest visit.
Last week we spent a long weekend in the city and had an amazing time. It was so fun to visit when the entire city is gearing up for Christmas! Everything was so festive and we loved it.
We did a few of the typical tourist things, ate some delicious food, and to top it all off we went to see The Nutcracker. I’m a sucker for the ballet and this was a dream for me. I’ve seen this ballet many times, but never in New York. And oh my goodness was it worth it.
I am by no means an expert, but here is a list of some of the things I love to do when visiting the city!
Take a stroll through Central Park
I’m sure you’re all saying DUH. Who visits the city and doesn’t check out Central Park? But seriously, there’s so much to explore there. I like to check out a different area every time I visit.
I swear even if you claim to not like museums you can find one you’ll enjoy here. You need to check at least one out!
Staten Island Ferry
A cheaper (i.e. free) way to see the Statue of Liberty and get an amazing few of the Manhattan skyline
Full of people with selfie sticks but still worth it. The view of the city from Brooklyn is gorgeous, and while you’re over there be sure to get Juliana’s Pizza!
Top of the Rock
In my opinion, the best view of the city. Also the lines are sooo much shorter than the Empire State Building.
This area is just soo nice to explore. There are tons of cute shops, some of the best food in the city, and you can check out Carrie Bradshaws Brownstone.
Eat all the food
All of it. Seriously there are so many good things to eat. My favourites are Katz Deli, ramen, Shake Shack and of course, New York bagels.
sEE A SHOW
There are so many things to choose from. Broadway, a comedy show, the ballet, the opera. It’s definitely a worthwhile experience!
Ah New York, words can’t describe how much I love you. What are everyone else’s favourite things to do when visiting the city?
Also sorry that some of these pictures are less than ideal quality. Naturally, I forgot to bring my good camera. Oops!
