I feel like every blog post I write begins with an apology and an explanation for why I haven’t blogged lately. I’ve just been so busy lately… but aren’t we all? And I feel like I have no time in my day… But I have time to scroll through instagram ad nauseam. Basically, there is no excuse. I really enjoy blogging. I love brainstorming ideas and taking pictures. But it’s not something I tend to prioritize, which is unfortunate. Does anyone else feel the same?!
So I could make a New Years resolution to blog more. But here’s the thing… I suck at keeping New Years resolutions. As soon as I say I “have” to do something, it turns into a chore instead of something I enjoy. So for the past couple years I have focused on New Years “intentions” instead of “resolutions”. To me, an intention comes from a place of acceptance, while a resolution indicates we aren’t good enough the way we already are. So instead of making a resolution to “blog at least 3 times a week”, I will make an intention to use my time intentionally and make space for the things that bring me joy.
What are you hoping to accomplish in the New Year? Did you make a resolution to eat healthy and work out more? Instead, consider making an intention to treat your body with love and respect. Or are you trying to save money in 2018? Try to spend more intentionally. Some of my New Years intentions include enjoying small moments that bring me joy (a good cup of coffee or a nice glass of wine, for example), eating intentionally and listening to my body, and making time for the things I love.
Do you make New Years intentions? Or do you prefer resolutions? I would love to hear about them!
